LASIK eye surgery is one of the most popular vision correction procedures available today. More than 600,000 LASIK surgeries take place each year in the U.S. LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is used to correct problems with eye focus and clarity and often results in significant vision improvements. Many people are able to stop wearing their glasses or contacts once recovery is complete. LASIK has been around for decades with positive results for most people. Still, many people are understandably nervous about eye surgery. Here are some common questions and answers.
If you have the following characteristics, you might be a candidate for LASIK:
How We Make Sure You’re a Good Candidate
When you set up a consultation for LASIK consideration here at The Eye Institute, we don’t just look at your eyes. We explain the LASIK procedure completely so that you know exactly what it involves both during and after the surgery.
Once you decide to proceed to the next step, we get your medical history, and of course, examine your eyes. Some health conditions may prevent you from LASIK, so be sure to give your ophthalmologist any information he or she needs during your consultation. By using this multi-step process, we ensure that you are a good candidate both mentally and physically.
What if You Aren’t a Good Candidate?
There is usually no need to despair. We can consider other vision correction surgeries or vision shaping to see if another solution will work. With so many choices, it’s likely that at least one alternative will work.
Your ophthalmologist will give you instructions for post-operative home care, which includes getting a ride from someone; you can’t drive after the surgery. Later, you will return to your optometrist at The Eye Institute for a follow-up visit to confirm your vision correction.
In most cases, you’ll notice a definite improvement in your vision the very day after your surgery. Even so, it is possible to notice even more improvement in the weeks or months to come. Therefore, you should not consider your initial results to be final.
The first step to having your vision surgically improved is to have that initial consultation. Call The Eye Institute today to get started on your vision correction.
Excellent service, doctor and front desk staff. Also an excellent and very stylish selection of eyewear for the entire family.
I highly recommend!
I left feeling as if I was valued, and that my money was being well spent on something I wanted to spend it on — not something I felt pressured into thinking I needed. The eye exam was by far one of the most involved and well explained I have ever experienced. I was pleasantly surprised the that the Dr. was present the whole time, my questions were answered with thought and not once did I get the standard, "I would not be too concerned " response. It was always a clear interest to make sure I was understanding the technical as well as the results of his answer.
After many many years here...I am still happy to have my annual exam, glasses, contact lenses, and other services for my family here. LOVE this place and the atmosphere with knowledgeable and friendly staff. I highly recommend!
TEI's team has always been courteous, friendly, and calls about the exam. I've been going for years to one in Knightdale, NC and would not switch unless they close which, hopefully, they never will!
I had been coming here for years and I’m always greeted by friendly staff! They know most of my family and remember our life stories when we come. It never feels like I’m the eye doctor, it feels like family.
I loved everyone at the Eye Institute. I got in pretty quick, they were very thorough and everyone had a great attitude. Thanks, Eye Institute!!
Dr. Chad Morgan has provided me with proactive, strategic care and exceptional long-term advice about my eye care for more than 5 years. I trust him completely and know he has a full understanding of my health and the new treatment options for my care. I simply wouldn't entrust my eyes to anyone else!
Good customer service. Tiffany was very helpful in helping me pick out my new eyewear. Dr. Chad is friendly and proactive...I appreciate both!
