3 Foods That Help With Eyesight

Many people resolve to improve their eating habits around this time of year. Did you know that certain foods can actually improve your eyesight and eye function? As you’re adjusting the foods you eat, consider these three; they offer benefits to your eyes as well as your overall health.

  1. Raw Red Pepper – Red bell peppers contain Vitamin C, and they are extremely low in calories. Vitamin C is excellent for the blood vessels in your eyes, which could lower your chances of developing cataracts down the line.
  2. Leafy Greens – Dark leafy greens such as kale, spinach, and collard greens are also rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Our favorite dark leafy greens are filled with carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, which lower your chances of developing AMD and cataracts.
  3. Salmon – Salmon has several nutritional benefits, even for your eyes! Two kinds of omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA, are found in fatty fish like salmon. Not only do your eyes need these fatty acids for proper function, but they can lower your risk of developing glaucoma and AMD.
